Boat Mishap: YS Jagan Asks YSRCP Leaders To Help In Rescue Operations

Rajahmundry: After the tragic boat mishap in Godavari river yesterday wherein 10 people drowned while others are being rescued, Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was pained by the accident. The YSRCP Chief who is on historic walkathon, Praja Sankalpa Yatra in East Godavari, was enquiring the party leaders about the rescue operations at the accident site. YS Jagan called upon his party leaders and workers to participate in the recuse operations and help the teams that were operating.
Earlier, a diving team of Eastern Naval Command was put into force to assist in the search operations in the River Godavari, where 10 people were drowned in a boat mishap.
According to the reports, more than 40 people were said to be traveling in a country boat which is capsized at Pasuvula Lanka of Polavaram, Rajahmundry. Yesterday, the rescue teams of NDRF were rushed to the spot where 10 of them were rescued by the locals.
A single naval helicopter UH3H was positioned at the airport of Rajahmundry. Due to the inclement weather there was delay the search efforts. The NDRF team began the search operations once the weather cleared up. The team helped to rescue 13 more persons from the river.Today the search is on for seven more missing persons.
The Eastern Naval Command provided a diving team to augment the rescue efforts with the request of East Godavari district administration. A Dornier aircraft of INS Dega sanctioned the required equipment to the diving team from Vishakapatnam to Rajahmundry last night.
