Amaravati: Describing the unscheduled meeting of State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar with political leaders at a star hotel as a conspiracy, YSRCP leaders said that SEC should quit office on moral grounds.
Speaking to media at separate conferences here on Tuesday, they said it is unbecoming on part of a SEC to hold private conference with political leaders that too when his credentials and conduct are being debated.
Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, Ministers Adimulapu Suresh and others said that Chandrababu Naidu is using SEC to plot against the government. “How can a person with a constitutional post go for a secret meeting with political leaders? That post should have a better person to act unbiasedly and thus we have appointed a former judge for the role of SEC. People are watching the political conspiracy plotted by Naidu against the government and soon everything will be revealed and further investigate this matter.”
“Right from the beginning, we are stating that the opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu is plotting against the government along with the Election commissioner, and it was proved with the trio meeting. Soon the conspiracy will be exposed after the Supreme Court orders.” said Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.
SEC is an independent body, and the election commissioner should function unbiasedly. However, everyone in the State witnessed the monopoly enjoyed by SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and the way he sent a letter to the Centre against the state government during the local body elections. The video tapes of the secret meeting have shown that Chandrababu Naidu is highly involved as his close aides YS (Sujana) Chowdary and Kamineni Srinivas were spotted with Ramesh Kumar at a star hotel. All three were lobbying against the government for their political gains.
“Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar should disclose the reason behind his secret meeting with BJP leaders Sujana Chowdary and Kamineni Srinivas. Though the TDP leaders denied connections with Ramesh, with the meeting visuals, the conspiracy has been revealed. Ramesh Kumar is not eligible to continue in the post as SEC and should resign for his post immediately. Even the letter he sent to the Centre originated from Central Office. Ramesh Kumar plays to the tunes of Chandrababu and also the lawyer fees for the cases in the High Court and Supreme Court are being borne by Naidu.” he added.
