Farmers going through trying times in TDP rule

YSRCP leaders K Parthasarathy and Janga Krishnamurthy

YSRCP Leaders Slam Chandrababu For Desperate Poll Gimmicks

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders K Parthasarathy and Janga Krishnamurthy flayed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for showering sops on the people of Andhra Pradesh ,with elections just a few weeks away.

They said that as in the case of AgriGold, Chandrababu is also trying to issue post-dated cheques to the people. Talking about the AP cabinet meeting which took place on Wednesday, Parthasarathy remarked that Chandrababu and his government had done nothing for the welfare of the farmers in the past four and half years, but it has all of a sudden made an announcement about the Anna Daata Sukhibahava scheme.

The senior YSRCP leader added that the farmers have gone through trying times in the state in the past four years, and that the black gram price has come down by 40%, with farmers reeling under losses . When the TDP came to power the debt of the farmers was Rs. 87,000 cr which has now shot up to Rs. 2,00,000 crore, he said. Chandrababu has failed in fulfilling the promise made that Rs 24,000 crore will be released to mitigate the loans of the farm sector, the senior YSRCP leader pointed out. He questioned the TDP supremo about the Rs 5000 crore sanctioned for the stabilization of prices. Parthasarathy pointed out that at least Rs 100 crore has not been spent in the allocated amount and in such dire conditions, Chandrababu is asking the people to celebrate festivals.

Parthasarathy observed that Chandrababu has put farmers who had demanded minimum support price in jail. He questioned as to what Chandrababu did for farmers in the times of natural disasters namely Hudhud and Titli. Chandrababu went to the affected areas and estimated the devastation at Rs 1,00,000 crore. Later, the AP chief minister demanded a grant of Rs 600 crore from the Centre and claimed later that the state was given a relief package. Parthasarathy revealed that the damage caused by Titli cyclone stood at Rs 3,600 crore but the funds sanctioned were to the tune of Rs 600 crore.

K Parthasarathy highlighted the fact that the relief measures taken for the victims of cyclone Pethai have not percolated to the affected and instead of overseeing the measures, Chandrababu was busy calling on West Bengal chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Has the government issued any cheques by 19 December as stated earlier, he asked.

Referring to Chandrababu's demand for Special Category Status to AP, the senior YSRCP leader pointed out that Chandrababu is like a chameleon and has been changing colours since the past four years.

Leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy fought relentlessly for SCS for AP, and he was put in jail for doing so. YSRCP workers and leaders were harassed for staging protests demanding SCS to the state. Now Chandrababu has taken a U-turn on the issue and pretends to be a champion of SCS.

Parthasarathy reiterated that Chandrababu's government has come up with a scheme to pay Rs 10,000 to the farmers of which Rs 6000 is given by the Central government and the remaining is funded by the state. He reminded media persons that the same Chandrababu who criticized the Central government that they were paying Rs 17 per day is now paying Rs 11 per day by his own logic. This, after copying the scheme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The senior YSRCP leader pointed out that in the recently presented budget Chandrababu tried to hoodwink the people of AP by announcing Rs 5000 crore to the Anna Daata Sukhibahva scheme but the project needs Rs 8000 crore, as the AP chief minister knows he is not going to be back in power he presented this budget.

K Parathasarathy pointed out that YS Jagan had already announced that the pension being provided to senior citizens will be raised by Rs 2000, but as elections are fast approaching Chandrababu copied it and similarly the Rythu Bharosa scheme of Navaratnalu under which Rs 12,500 were being offered to the farmers has been copied under the garb of Anna Daata Sukhibhava.
