Tadepalli, Nov 2: Strongly condemning the arrest of former minister and BC leader Jogi Ramesh, the YSRCP has slammed Chandrababu for his vindictive politics and for trying to divert the attention of people from the Kasibugga stampede.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Party SC Cell President and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu said Jogi Ramesh was arrested as he had exposed the spurious liquor dump at Ibrahimpatnam, and the timing clearly shows that the government wanted to divert attention when it was on the back foot over the Kasibugga stampede. He also demanded that a compensation of ₹1 crore be given to the kin of those who died in the stampede.
The diversion tactics have become a template and are meant only to cover up the gross failure of the government in saving innocent lives at the Kasibugga temple stampede. This is the third stampede this year, starting from the Tirupati incident, as the government has shown scant respect for people and has been resorting to vindictive politics.
Spurious liquor is being manufactured in Tamballapalli, Amalapuram, Anakapalli, Eluru, and numerous other places, and one in every three bottles is a spurious one. He questioned why there have been no searches by the Excise Department. “Spurious liquor has become a cottage industry in the state,” he said.
“Why was Jayachandra Reddy not arrested when the first spurious liquor scam was exposed?” he asked, adding that Jogi Ramesh was arrested only as a vindictive measure. “We will not be cowed down; we will fight it out,” he asserted.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had closed down all belt shops in the state, while now they have sprouted in every nook and corner, with ruling party leaders running them.
The government has failed in cyclone management, and shelter was provided in the RBK centres set up by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. There has been no enumeration, input subsidy, or crop insurance— all of which would have been given on time during the previous government.
Chandrababu Naidu has been going to London without specifying the reason, leaving the state in the lurch, while Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan are doing everything but governance.
From the fake laddu case to the fake liquor case, the TDP has been raising such issues only to divert public attention whenever government failures come to the fore.
He also flayed a section of the media for attributing names and motives to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his close associates, saying, “We are speaking facts, while the media is only trying to elevate Chandrababu Naidu.”
