Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Chief and leader of the Opposition, Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met the Governor of the two Telugu states, ESL Narasimhan in Raj Bhawan at Hyderabad today. YS Jagan accompanied by senior YSRCP leaders, submitted a petition to the Governor apprising him about the status in Andhra Pradesh on day of Elections on April 11.
The petition enumerated details about the atrocities committed by the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the YSRCP leaders and the people who had voted for them. YS Jagan also spoke about the partisan manner in which the TDP government was functioning and the complete failure of law and order in the state on that day. Evidence and other documents related to the poll violence were submitted along with the complaint.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that a representation to the Governor was submitted to about various issues pertaining to the violence and attacks that happened on the day of polling and afterwards.
YS Jagan spoke about the failure of the law and order machinery on the day of polling and afterwards. He said that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister was using the police machinery to his benefits. In the representation, he had also mentioned that the AP CM had appointed more than 40 police officers of various ranks from his caste. Instead of filing cases against the TDP leaders who attacked people who had come forward to vote and also on the YRSCP leaders, they were filing false cases on the YRSCP aides , he mentioned.
YS Jagan also requested that directions should be given to the Chief Secretary to see that the CM does not spend money indiscriminately as it is a vote on account budget in the state. Every penny spent should be accounted for and the money should not be released, he said firmly.
The YSRCP leader pointed out that they had informed the Governor about the case of the Speaker, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao who locked himself inside a polling booth for one and a half hours, tore his own shirt and created a tense situation provoking villagers.
YS Jagan also spoke about the TDP chief's statements that were full of contradictions, a clear sign of his fear of defeat in the elections. He mocked the TDP leaders claim that he had voted, but the vote had been cast to some other party. How is that possible when the VVPAT slip showed for whom he voted was clear, but he never questioned the election officials then, he asked. YS Jagan said that when Chandrababu won the 2014 elections which was through the EVM machines, there was no complaint at that point of time, he reminded. But now when he realised that the people's opinions had changed and he sensed that the he was going to lose he starts crying foul about the EVM machines being faulty, he mocked.
YS Jagan also spoke about how the strong rooms in Machilipatnam were opened and the EVMs were taken out, which was a gross violation of rules. He asked for the state government security be removed from there. YS Jagan also said that a request for issue of the safety of EVMs in strong rooms protected by CRPF forces should be enhanced and para-military forces also be deployed there.Complete control should be given to the centre and additional CC cameras should be placed and the feed should be relayed directly to the CEC in Delhi and in the CEO's office and not to the District Collector who was appointed by the Chief Minister himself, he said. On a parting note, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said he was happy that polling was completed in the state and that he was going on a holiday to chill...
