YS Jagan’s Cabinet Rolls Out Slew of Welfare Measures

Amaravati:The first Cabinet meet of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government resolved to roll out numerous welfare measures.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy once again reiterated that welfare and transparency will be the mainstays of his government. In the marathon five and half hours’ Cabinet meet, he made it clear to his newly-sworn-in Ministers that corruption would not be tolerated at any costs. While unearthing scams would win the Minister and authorities concerned rewards and felicitation, irregularities could cost their jobs.

Some of the newly announced decisions include, hiking the salary of municipal and sanitation workers by a whopping Rs 18,000 on top of what they are currently drawing; increasing the salary of community health workers under the Tribal Welfare Department from current Rs 400 to Rs 4000 a month; and State government employees to receive 27 per cent Interim Relief (IR) from July onwards. Home guards and Anganwadi workers are also expected to get a pay hike too, but the details are not yet known.

As announced earlier, the salary of Asha workers will be increased from existing Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 a month, besides the old age pensioners will get Rs 2,250 a month.

On the governance front, the State Cabinet promised to merge the cash-strapped APSRTC into the State government. Towards this effect, a committee will be set to study and facilitate the merger in three months. Other decisions include overhauling sand mining architecture and doing away with outsourcing system gradually.
