Tadepalli, Feb 17: YSRCP Women’s Wing State President and MLC Varudu Kalyani stated that the Madanapalle murder of a seven-year-old girl was a complete failure of the coalition government.
Speaking to the media at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, she said the state government must take full responsibility and ensure the accused is given the strictest punishment.
She said the shocking incident had shaken the entire state and showed that there was no safety for women and girls under the present government. She alleged that repeated murders and sexual assaults were happening because offenders had no fear of strict punishment. Parents were losing confidence about the safety of their daughters even when they went to school.
Kalyani blamed the government’s liquor policy, permit rooms, and the rise of belt shops for the increase in crimes against women and children. She criticized the Home Minister for linking the crime only to drunken behavior and said the policy itself was encouraging such incidents. She alleged that police were being used to file cases against opposition leaders instead of protecting women.
She also questioned the lack of action in other cases, including incidents in Hindupur and Anaparthi. She demanded answers from the Chief Minister and urged the Deputy Chief Minister to ensure strict punishment instead of making statements.
