*Extend SIR by one more month: YSRCP*

Tadepalli, July 5: YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy has demanded that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh be extended by one more month, alleging that the process is being conducted in a negligent, biased and non-transparent manner.

Addressing the media at the YSRCP Central Office, he said that according to the Election Commission's own data, only 48.86 percent of the digitisation process has been completed even after 21 days. Completing the remaining 52 percent in the next nine days is impossible, he said. He also pointed out that many voters have not yet received enumeration forms and that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are not issuing acknowledgement receipts after collecting the forms.

Appi Reddy alleged that the TDP-led coalition is using the SIR process to target and delete YSRCP votes. He said TDP leaders are pressuring and threatening BLOs, while officials are failing to act even when complaints are lodged. He cited the complaint made by a BLO in Narasaraopet against a TDP MLA and criticised officials for attempting a compromise instead of taking action.

He also questioned the participation of a Municipal Commissioner in a teleconference organised by Minister Narayana with TDP MLAs, where officials reportedly promoted the MyTDP app. He termed it evidence of the partisan role being played by government officials.

He said the party has been regularly submitting complaints to both the State and Central Election Commissions regarding irregularities, intimidation and violations in the SIR process. He demanded a transparent revision process, voting rights for every eligible citizen, and warned that YSRCP would approach the courts if corrective measures are not taken.
