Tadepalli, Oct 15: YSRCP leaders said former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s five-year governance reflected the ideals of former President and Bharat Ratna Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, particularly his emphasis on education, youth empowerment and opportunities for the disadvantaged.
The party observed Dr Kalam’s birth anniversary at its Central Office under the leadership of MLC Lella Appireddy. Party leaders, heads of affiliated wings and workers paid floral tributes to the former President.
Speakers recalled Kalam’s journey from a modest Muslim family to becoming one of India’s most respected scientists and President. They said his message urging students to dream, pursue education and transform aspirations into reality continues to inspire generations.
YSRCP leaders said the previous Jagan government sought to translate the ideals of Kalam and Dr B.R. Ambedkar into governance by ensuring that poverty did not become a barrier to education. They highlighted the Nadu-Nedu programme, which upgraded government schools with improved infrastructure and facilities.
They criticised the present coalition government, saying its policies were weakening the education system and hurting minorities, BCs and weaker sections. They also charged the government with creating divisions and undermining reservation safeguards.
The leaders said better educational opportunities and advancement of minorities, BCs and weaker sections required policies centred on social justice and inclusive development.
Lella Appireddy, TJR Sudhakar Babu, Kommuri Kanaka Rao, Sheikh Dastagiri, Ankamreddy Narayana Murthy, Nalamaaru Chandrasekhar Reddy, Sharif, MD Firoz, Sheikh Ayub, Srinivas, Kalyani and other party leaders participated in the programme.
