Coalition encouraging gambling

Tadepalli, Jan 11: YSRCP has slammed the coalition government for encouraging gambling in the name of traditional events and making a mockery of the festive spirit.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Party spokesperson Putta Siva Shankar said that in the wake of the Sankranti festival, gambling dens are organised on a large scale, with huge cash flow and commissions allegedly going to ruling party leaders and cadres.
Nearly 250 dens are set to operate for cockfights with high stakes, and specialists from Sri Lanka were brought in to run the show.
Instead of following the traditional path, the government is going into overdrive in organising gambling, liquor sales and entry fees, and reserving the rights of admission, he said.
