Chandrababu afraid of facing local body polls

Amaravati: Fearing imminent defeat, Chandrababu Naidu is trying to stop the local body elections at any cost as the TDP is not at all prepared to enter the fray, said YSRCP MLA Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy here on Wednesday.

TDP, which has no candidates to field, is at its old game and trying to create a scene and its friendly media blowing it up to create a false impression, he said and asked there is no need for Bonda Uma and Budha Venkaiah to roam about in Palandu breaking election code with a fleet of cars and show off the strength they do not have.

People of Palnadu will not tolerate outsiders poking their nose into the region and anyone coming with such a band will be taught a fitting lesson. At the same time, we want to have a fair and peaceful elections, he said.

Did Naidu in his 40 years in public life, ever thought of bringing about the revolutionary reforms that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has introduced in the local body elections, he asked. The Chief Minister has brought about reforms to curb the abuse of liquor and money. He has also taken a decision not to allow the kin of MLAs or ministers contest in the local body polls.

If intellectuals and the poor people from all walks of life are coming forward to contest the local body polls it is because of the reforms introduced by Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MLA said and added that Naidu was unable to tolerate this.

Even as there is all-round applause for the welfare programmes taken up by Jagan Mohan Reddy from across the country, the yellow media instigated by Naidu was presenting a negative and gloomy picture of the state, Srinivas Reddy said. The media was trying to project that atrocities were taking place in the state, which is far from the truth.

It was during Naidu regime that elected MPTCs of the YSRCP were kidnapped and MLAs Mustafa and Ambati Rambabu were attacked brutally by the goons of the TDP at Muppada in Guntur district. Where was democracy then, the MLA asked.

There is no need to specifically mention the attacks perpetrated by Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and his son on the YSRCP activists at Narasaraopeta and Sattenapalli in Guntur district during the elections under the TDP regime and so was Prattiprati Pulla Rao in Chilakaluripeta, he said.

Meanwhile, Minister for Municipal Administration Botsa Satyanarayana said TDP leaders Bonda Umamaheshwar Rao and Budha Venkanna have been to Palanadu not to console their party members but to show their criminal bent of mind. He asked why they have gone there in 10 vehicles if not for creating unnecessary tension in the region.

He said both the TDP leaders tried to portray themselves in a filmy style by their rash driving in 10 cars. As usual, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is utilizing the situation for political gain by trying to create unrest and disturb law and order across the state. Earlier, it was village volunteers who have been targeted by Naidu and now, this incident. It is evident now that TDP is aware of its defeat in the local body elections. This is to cover up the TDP’s imminent failure in the upcoming local body elections, he said
