Andhra Pradesh minister for municipal administration Botsa Satyanarayana said that the damage caused by floods was checked and minimised through prompt action by officials. He commended the state government officials who took necessary steps to limit damage from floods. The minister added that the state government would assess the damage caused by floods and decide on the extent of compensation. Botsa hit out at the yellow media for putting out distorted news and pointing fingers at the YSRCP government's prompt steps which minimised damage to property and lives from floods. Botsa pointed out that Andhra Pradesh chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy constantly enquired about the flood situation in the state from the US and gave necessary directions.
Condemning the TDP's vicious propaganda saying that the state government had not been successful in flood-relief efforts, the minister said that this negative publicity was a result of pure envy because the TDP had only looted the state treasury in such times. He recalled that Srisailam project got submerged under Chandrababu's rule and it was farcical therefore, that he and his party men should be talking about flood-management now.
Now, after he knows that his rented house on the banks of river Krishna in the capital will not get submerged, the TDP chief is enacting a drama of touring flood-affected areas, Botsa remarked. Drone politics is not a part of YSRCP culture, he said, adding it is typical of Chandrababu Naidu and TDP.
YSRCP,unlike the TDP believes in standing by people in times of disasters and difficult times. Chandrababu once said that such situations present opportunities. The TDP looted the state treasury in times of natural disasters. It should appreciate what good is done for the people in times of adversity, or keep mum, Botsa said.
Why did the TDP chief run away to Hyderabad when flood waters entered his house on the banks of the river, the minister asked. Chandrababu is a habitual seeker of publicity.
The YSRCP, on the other hand, is more concerned with rescue and relief operations, he pointed out. It is for this reason that people reposed their confidence in YS Jagan's leadership, the minister added. Botsa said that in the next few months and years, investments would flow into the state. YS Jagan, on his visit to the US, promised investors of all help on behalf of the state government and the results would be seen, Botsa predicted.
