ASHA workers thank AP CM

Tadepalli: Sticking to his promise made during his Padayatra, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy hiked the salaries of ASHA workers in the State from the current Rs 3,000 a month to Rs 10,000. The hiked honorarium will be paid to them from July onwards and expected to benefit over 3,500 ASHA workers in the State.
ASHA workers had always been a disappointed lot and protested on numerous occasions during the Chandrababu Naidu’s regime demanding a pay hike. However, their cry for better pay fell on deaf ears. While the demands for pay hike got scant attention, allegations of corruption were rife among authorities concerned.
The giant leap in terms of monthly honorarium places the ASHA of Andhra Pradesh well above their peer group in Telangana who draw Rs 6,000 a month and by those in Kerala who earn a monthly honorarium of Rs 7,500.
