Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has resorted to pre-election political plagiarism. He has been copying scheme after scheme from the Navarathnalu promised to the people of the state by Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the course of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra.

The latest among his copycat activities relates to his promise at a Convention of BCs in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday, of setting up corporations for BC communities. YS Jagan had promised a corporation for each BC community much earlier.

The Andhra Pradesh chief minister who had promised at the time of 2014 elections that certain castes would be made a part of SC, ST, BC communities did not implement that commitment. Instead, he blamed the Centre for it and washed his hands off the matter. Now again with elections round the corner, he promised to create corporations for 11 BC federations. YS Jagan had earlier made this commitment in several public meetings and also in interactions with BC communities.

The YSRCP chief had promised to set up corporations for the following communities, among others: Setti Balija, Eedaga, Gouda, Sreesaina, Yadava, Kuruba, Agnikula Kshatriya, Vanyakula Kshatriya, Toorpu Kapu, Koppula Velama, Kalinga, Gavara, Gandla, weaver and fishermen communities. YS Jagan  interacted with representatives of these communities who submitted applications and petitions, during the course of the Padayatra. After studying their demands closely, he announced the setting up of these corporations.

For the past four years, Chandrababu Naidu has been taking the BCs for a ride in the name assigning of Rs.10,000 crores per annum in the budget, under BC sub-plan. He cites road laying and drainage work as part of expenditure under BC sub-plan.

At the end of his term, Chandrababu Naidu announced the setting up of a committee to draw up the BC sub-plan. This is a clear indication, say leaders of BC groups, that he has been taking the BC communities on a ride so far in the name of BC sub-plan. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has been taking credit for the work done by late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy in setting up corporations for backward communities. In fact, under Dr. YSR, the Commissioner for BC Welfare, Praveen Kumar took personal interest in giving a shape to Dr. YSR’s commitment and thus the Corporation was set up.

From enhancement of pensions to scrapping taxes on tractors and autos, all the promises now being made by Chandrababu Naidu are commitments made earlier by YS Jagan. It is evident from the Andhra Pradesh chief minister's actions that as a last resort, he is copying every scheme and commitment made by YS Jagan during the course of his Padayatra.
