The IT wing of YSR Congress will conduct job fairs in various verticals by imparting training besides creating social awareness among the youth.
Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy formed the 21-member committee, headed by convener MadhusudhanChalla, to reach out to the youth, party spokesperson JupudiPrabhakar Rao announced here on Saturday.
After taking oath, MadhusudhanChalla said, they will draft an action plan to motivate the youth through training classes and improve their employment opportunities. Go green, Avoid drink and drive, right to vote are some of the initial programme we will undertake, he said.
The IT wing had earlier conducted job fairs for BPOs and it was a big success. Now they are planning to hold job melas, in various verticals of Engineering besides Management and other fields, he said.
Membership drive, job fairs cutting across party lines, using social networking sites to propagate how IT and ITES was encouraged during YSR period, vision of YSR and his welfare schemes would be the main features of the IT committee, he said.
IT and ITES in the State has drastically come down along with the budgetary allocations, he said adding that demanding the government for higher allocations to IT will also be high on our agenda.
Doling out the data, he said, Andhra Pradesh was in the fifth place in IT and ITES before 2004 and could scale to the third spot in 2004-09 during YSR term. In the same period IT export share (on a national scale) rose from 7 per cent to 15 per cent and in terms of money it went up from Rs 5,025 crores to 32, 509 cores. The number of employees went up from 85, 945 to 2, 51, 786 and the number of companies swelled from 700 to 1,206.
Slowing there is a slide as no new industries are coming up and old ones are either being closed or moved out of the state, he said.
