Move no-trust vote, we will support: YSRC dares TDP: July 19

Hyderabad, July 19: Brushing aside the allegations that there was a pact with Congress, YSRC has reiterated that it has decided to vote for Pranab Mukherjee as he was the better candidate and there will be no change in its stand to oppose Congress and TDP in the days to come.

“There is no change in our stand that Congress and TDP have conspired to defame YSR and his family members. We voted for Pranab Mukherjee as we had no other option and we do not want to shirk responsibility by abstaining from voting in the Presidential elections and we very much want to be part of the parliamentary process,” party spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Thursday.

“Should the TDP dare to move a no-confidence motion against the State Government, we will support it. This is to make clear that we have taken the Presidential election above party lines,” he said.

We are the challengers in the State and it is absurd for some political parties trying to justify their neutrality, and others trying to contend that YSRC will merge with Congress while a section of media going agog that there has been 180-degree turn on our stand.

“All these allegations stem out of frustration, more so after the recent by-poll results. We are not going back against our contention that Congress and TDP have conspired to jail YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and we also firmly believe that the YSR chopper crash case was closed in a huff without proper investigation,” he said.

When TDP did not pit a candidate against PV Narasimha Rao in Nandyal, did the party had an understanding with Congress then? There will be circumstances when you have to rise above party lines and take decisions in national interest, he said.

Even Shiv Sena, which is part of NDA, has supported the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee which shows that election to the first citizen of the country can be above party lines.

Linking our support to Pranab Mukherjee with the bail to Jagan is just a concocted version of the vested interests and we made it clear that voting is a democratic process and bail is a judicial procedure and they are two different issues, he said.

Congress and TDP have tied up to file a case which led the arrest and harassment of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and their secret pact came to the open at Narsapuram and Ramachandrapuram by-elections. We will continue to take on them individually and collectively and there is no change in our stand, our support to Pranab Mukherjee notwithstanding, he said.

It was TDP which took U-turn by opting to abstain from voting which shows its complex character of confusion as it cannot sail with Congress nor can it tie-up with NDA. TRS too has been facing the same ideological crisis as it does not want to support Pranab Mukherjee nor does it want to support BJP, which has promised to give Telangana.

The piquant situation these two parties are in shows that they cannot stick to their own stand nor can      they rise above political moorings. They do not have the moral right to criticise YSRCP as we have a      taken a resolute decision to vote for Pranab Mukherjee, he said.
