Hyderabad, April 15,
2013: YSR Congress party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma reiterated
that, taking inspiration from Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, YSRCP would continue to
stand by the poor and the downtrodden.
Addressing the party
leaders and workers after paying glowing tributes to Dr. Ambedkar on his 122nd
Jayanti at the party headquarters on Sunday, she said YSR Congress was born to
fulfill the unfinished aspirations of Dr. YSR.
“Our party will work
for the people, especially the poor,” she declared, adding Dr. YSR was inspired
by Dr. Ambedkar who carried out the struggle all his life for the emancipation
of the downtrodden and the depressed classes.
Inspired by Ambedkar,
YSR introduced plethora of welfare programmes to ensure food, employment and health
security for all, she said.
Smt. Vijayamma said
Ambedkar was a leader not only for the depressed sections of the society but
also for all those who wanted equality and brotherhood among the people. “In
fact, YSR had drawn inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi as well,”
she observed and remarked: “The same objectives’ and aspirations are the guiding
force for YSRCP too. The real tribute to such great leaders would be to
continue to work towards achieving their aspirations.”
Earlier, Vijayamma,
accompanied by several party leaders, visited Tank Bund and garlanded the
statue of Dr. Ambedkar.
