Tirupati, Jan 12, 2013:
YSR Congress Party staged a Dharna in Tirupati on Saturday protesting against
the Government’s proposal to hike the power charges.
Hundreds of party
activists, most of them women, collected in droves and protested on the
Tiruchanur road and raised slogans against the Government’s proposal to
increase the power tariff.

MLA Bhumana Karunakara Reddy, who led the protests, said the Government has
been trying to dilute the welfare schemes introduced by Dr.YSR. “The proposal
to hike the power charges will bring unbearable burden on the people,” he said
during the Dharna. Police were also present in good number on the occasion.
