YSRCP lodges formal complaint with EC

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress party lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner of India stating that large-scale manipulation had occurred in the preparation of existing electoral rolls. General Secretary of YSRCP, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that this included duplication of votes ( in many cases same voter having multiple votes) and non-deletion of migrated votes. He brought to the notice of CEC, that in the present electoral rolls systematic deletion of existing voters has taken place. This deletion was done based on several reasons including but not limited to their caste, religion or their likely affiliation to certain political parties by disenfranchising lakhs of legitimate voters from their fundamental constitutional right.

The senior YSR Congress Party leader further said that observers are going through polling booth wise voter lists carefully for certification and submission of objections /claims for revision of existing electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, it was important to take into cognizance Srikakulam-Titli related havoc in the public lives for extension of deadline by another month.

The YSRCP, hence, sought an extension of the time limit for filing of claims and objections for revision of existing voter lists by one more month i.e. up to 30.11.2018 to review entire electoral rolls and to facilitate free and fair elections in Andhra Pradesh.
