Withdraw proposal to hike power tariff : YSRCP
06 Feb 2015 7:30 PM
Hyderabad, YSR Congress has demanded the TDP government to unconditionally withdraw the proposed hike in power charges or face consequences as people are fed up with the policies of the State.
“The proposed hike in power tariff should immediately be withdrawn failing which it has to face the people’s ire in the form of a big agitation,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Friday.
Even as the international coal prices have nosedived, there is no reason as to why the power charges are being increased. Chandrababu Naidu, then Leader of Opposition, has promised in 2013 that he will not increase the power tariff and will on the other hand bring down the power hike effected by the previous Congress government.
After coming to power he is back to his old ways as the State had seen many bouts of hike in power charges before and after YSR term. It was only YSR who did not increase any charges nor impose any fresh taxes. Chandrababu Naidu during his nine year term has increased power charges as many times, she said.
Chandrababu Naidu who failed to get funds from the Centre is trying to impose the burden on the common man and YSR Congress will take up the cause and agitate if the proposal is not withdrawn immediately, she said
