Where Is Farmers' Welfare?
06 Feb 2017 1:59 PM

Uravakonda: YSRCP's farmers' wing president, MVS Nagireddy, commented that farmers had no welfare under Chandrababu's rule. Mentioning the 8 akj acres of agricultural land and 1 lakh acres of horticultural land in Ananthapuram and 9 lakh acres of land was in grape cultivation, he remarked that there was no subsidy in AP while there was Rs.3.5 lakh subsidy in Telangana. He also reminded how Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy had initiated Jalayagnyam to provide irrigation water to 1 crore acres, giving the credit of majority of irrigation projects in the state to YSR.
Nagireddy demanded to know how drought had been overcome through use of rainguns, as being claimed by Chandrababu. Mentioning how peanut farmers had suffered losses, he remarked that the farmers of Rayalaseema had to migrate to other places for livelihood, due to Babu's incompetence.
Opining that the Government had the responsibility to protect Ananthapuram, he complained that it was bluffing that while 1260 farmers had committed suicide, only 160 had. He assured farmers support on behalf of YSRCP and asked farmers not to commit suicide.
