Lashing out at Kiran
Kumar Reddy Government for its failure to tackle the Nilam cyclone and the
resultant flood, YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma today
asked the Government to learn lessons at least now.
Speaking to farmers at
Tirumalaya Palem in Khammam district after inspecting the flooded cotton and
tobacco fields and chilli crops in and around the village, Vijayamma asked the
Government to pay proper compensation immediately for the affected farmers.
Vijayamma was on a
one-day tour of the flood affected areas and inundated crops in Khammam
district.
Reacting to the reports
that 2,31,966 acres of cotton crop has been destroyed in the recent Nilam
cyclone, Vijayamma said people can’t live if there is no agriculture and if
there are no farmers. “We can’t survive without farmers,” she said and asked
the Government to announce a financial package immediately.
She assured the farmers YSRCP would bring
pressure on the Government to ensure proper compensation is paid.
Vijayamma asked Chief
Minister Kirankumar Reddy to react and announce compensation for the farmers
immediately without waiting for Central teams to visit the state. She will
visit the flood-ravaged villages in Paleru, Khammam, Vyra, Sattupally and
Aswarao Pet constituencies in the district and meet the flood victims.
Party leaders Bajireddy
Govardhan, Gattu Ramachandra Rao, Mahendar Reddy and Vijaya Reddy have
accompanied Vijayamma when she arrived at Khammam by Krishna Express earlier in
the day.
