Amaravati: A series of suicides by students in Narayana educational institutions has triggered a state wide uproar.
Protesting against the AP Government's inaction and expressing concern over the rising number of student suicides in private and corporate colleges, the major opposition YSR Congress party's student wing has called for a bandh today. Several student organisations have staged dharnas at the Narayana colleges. They demanded the Government to order for a probe into the deaths of suicides and suspend ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Narayana from the cabinet.
The police have arrested the student wing leaders at several places. About a dozen students studying in intermediate committed suicide citing classroom pressure as the reason. The Narayana group of institutions belong to the municipal administration minister P Narayana, who Chandrababu's his close associate.
Even higher education minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is Narayana's “viyyankudu”.
