The YSR Congress party MPs in the Lok Sabha, submitted their resignations to the Speaker on Friday to protest against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre. The members will soon begin their hungerstrike at AP Bhavan in New Delhi. Several members of the party have already reached Delhi to take part in the strike. The public has pledged their unwavering support to the party and promised to support the party to achieve SCS to state at any cost.
The YSR Congress Party has intensified its agitation over Special Category Status To Andhra Pradesh. The party MPs had announced their decision to resign from their Lok Sabha membership several weeks ago.
The decision was taken on the directions of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy earlier, who said that they would do so on the last day of the Lok Sabha budget session. The MPs will now go on a hunger strike in the national capital. This is a step to build pressure on the BJP-led NDA government to fulfill promises made to the state at the time of bifurcation, foremost among which is Special Category Status to the state.
