Hyderabad: YSRCP MLA RK Roja finds relief in the High Court today. The resolution to suspend Roja for a year from the Legislative Assembly was stricken off by the High Court. Interim orders were issued by the High Court regarding the same. Roja expressed her delight about the verdict delivered. The subsequent inquiry on this petition was adjourned to four weeks later. The court’s orders gave way to Roja’s attendance in the ongoing assembly budget sessions. The court gave orders allowing Roja to attend the sessions.
Roja proclaimed that this triumph was not hers alone, but was also of the people of her constituency. She stated that she had gone to the court to save her rights as well as for getting justice served to her people. She expressed her gratitude to the court for allowing her to attend the assembly sessions. Roja mentioned that her trust on the judicial system got doubled now. She announced they she would continue to question the Government about people’s problems irrespective of the hugeness of the CM’s position, as she had been doing since her entry into politics.
Senior lawyer of Supreme Court Indira Jaising argued on behalf of Roja in the High Court. It is well-known that MLA Roja was suspended for a year from attending the assembly on the charge of delivering inappropriate statements against CM Chandrababu Naidu in the assembly. But Roja exclaimed that the one-year long suspension was unlawful and the regulations stated that the speaker could order for suspension for just one session.
As Roja petitioned in the High Court regarding this, it was initially not accepted for inquiry in the High Court. As a result, she appealed to the Supreme Court, which then warned for action being taken against the assistant registrar of the High Court and ordered for acceptance of the petition. On Wednesday, arguments regarding this petition took place in High Court and the interim orders were issued on Thursday by the justice bench.
