Hyderabad, October 24: Picking up the
gauntlet YSR Congress has said that it is prepared for an open debate on
irrigation sector and river water sharing in wake of the TDP minister’s remarks
against YSR in the backdrop of his government’s failure in effectively
presenting its case before the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on the Krishna Waters
sharing.
Speaking to reporters here on
Monday party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said: ‘ The state has failed
miserably in effectively presenting its case before the Tribunal and when the
verdict has gone against the state interests, the irrigation minister has
started blaming YSR for a letter which he was supposed to have given only to
divert the attention from its failure.
We have conclusive evidence to prove
that Chandrababu Naidu has ignored the irrigation sector and allowed upper
riparian states to take advantage while he was the chief minister in 1990s and
till 2004 while he was chief minister for nine years and was a coalition partner.
During HD Deve Gowda period, he had
allowed Karnataka to build projects and draw more water and was a mute witness
but did not gear up to build a single project. Be it Bachchawat Tribunal or
Brijesh Kumar Tribunal TDP government failed miserably in putting forward the
case of Andhra Pradesh for getting its due share of water.
The same trend has been continuing and
being a coalition partner of NDA, Chandrababu Naidu has kept silent and did not
argue effectively to protect the interest of the state in Krishna water sharing
issue. Irrigation minister’s remarks on YSR stands no ground as the then Chief
Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy himself went on record that YSR was at no fault,
she said.
The Ordinance on legalizing the Swiss
Challenge was brought in a hurry as the court has raised certain questions and
state wanted to cover up its deviation from the procedural lapses, she said.
