Nellore: People in the Nellore rural constituency under 31 Division , Chankyapuri area have been facing a serious problem since a few months.
Senior YSRCP Leader and Nellore (Rural ) MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy took to protesting in a novel way for the people of the area. The Irrigation department has been stalling the construction of an overhead bridge over a rainwater drain which has been causing inconvenience to the public when they have to cross over the drain apart from facing unbearable stench of the dirty water in the drain.
Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy had also requested the officials to look into the issue on several occasions, but nothing was done . Vexed at the apathy of the officials the YRSCP MLA staged a novel protest by wading into the murky drain waters and stood there waist -deep for one hour to highlight the problem faced by the people. He refused to come out till the irrigation department officials came to the site.
The irrigation department were finally called to the site and they requested him to come out, but he refused. Finally, a senior official from the irrigation dept J.E. Subramnayam was sent and he promised to resolve the issue and build a bridge over the rainwater drain in forty five days.
After an official reassurance, YSRCP MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy stepped out and the locals in the town and those living in this area in particular, appreciated his gesture and his earnest attempt to solve their problem.
