Kadapa Steel Plant Belongs To CM Ramesh?

New Delhi: Demanding that the Centre immediately accord the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, Rajya Sabha members and former MPs of the YSR Congress party (YSRCP) protested in the Parliament premises here on Friday. Addressing the media during the YSRCP's protests near the Gandhi statue, MP Vijayasai Reddy said the Kadapa steel plant was a Central government undertaking worth Rs 18,000 crore.
Why is the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) bothered about the Centre's responsibilities? he asked. Vijayasai Reddy termed the Kadapa steel plant as a property of AP CM Chandrababu's benami CM Ramesh. He said Chandrababu's graphic presentation of the world's tallest buildings was a farce and that the proposal lacked a DPR. "Chandrababu estimated the project cost at Rs 48,000 crore. While ignoring the interests of vulnerable sections of BCs, SCs and STs by spending the funds under sub-plans, Chandrababu is now planning to shower benefits on his benamis with contracts and corruption," he added.
Recalling Chandrababu's statements on achieving the Special Category Status (SCS) for a period of 15 years during the 2014 elections, former MP Vara Prasad said Chandrababu deceived the public by taking a U-turn with his stance. "The TDP leaders said special package was a better choice. They mocked the YSRCP leaders who were fighting for the SCS. With a few months to go for polls, they have laid the foundation stone for the factory. Chandrababu doesn't deserve the right to continue to as the CM," he added.
