Hyderabad, Aug 10,
2013: Protesting against the stance of the Congress towards the Telugu people,
YSR Congress party president Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party honourary president
Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma on Saturday quit their Lok Sabha and Assembly seats respectively.
While Sri Jagan Mohan
Reddy faxed his letter of resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker through jail
authorities, Smt.Vijayamma alaso faxed her quit letter to the Assembly Speaker.
Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy and
Smt. Vijayamma have been representing Kadapa Lok sabha seat and Pulivendula
assembly seat respectively.
The resignations were
announced by party senior leader Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy at a media
conference at Lotus Pond.
Alleging that Congress
Party has further complicated the State issue by announcing Telangana formation
unilaterally without consulting the stake holders and without trying to solve
the division issues such as water, power and the status of Hyderabad, both of
them said in an open letter they had quit protesting against the Congress
leadership taking decisions unilaterally on the one hand and TDP playing political
dramas and playing with the lives of the Seema Andhra people on the other.
“We have been advocating time and again that
the Centre should first spell out its stand and the proposal should be put
forth for discussion before all stake holders and political parties before
taking a final decision which would be agreeable to all parties concerned. But
that was not the case,” they said in the open letter.
