Assembly: YSRCP MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy complained that the Government was corruptly raising the estimation of projects irregularly. He questioned the Government regarding this during the question hour of assembly budget sessions. Srikanth Reddy criticized that Rs.10 crore of estimation was moved up to Rs.150 crore. He also added that the estimation of Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi was multiplied by 5 times.
Srikanth Reddy complained that Rs.180 crore was paid to the work of worth only Rs.45 crore, although the contractor was inexperienced, only due to political pressure. He mentioned that a single tender was permitted for Kuppam branch canal project that was to be completed with Rs.150 crore. He stated that corruption of worth thousands of crores of rupees would be uncovered if inquiry was done on this. Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao responded to this even before the question was completed.
Leader of opposition YS Jagan questioned not giving Srikanth Reddy a single supplementary chance regarding this controversy. He also mentioned that other members of their party like Rajendranath Reddy also had not gotten chance to speak. Still the speaker called for the minister’s response.
