Dilution of Arogya Sri killing people

Vijayawada, April 19,
2013: Lambasting the dilution of Arogya Sri Scheme by the Kiran Kumar Reddy-led
Congress Government, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila said many people were dying unable to
get medical treatment under the scheme.

Addressing people at
Veerulapadu in Krishna District on Thursday after consoling an aged person who
was denied medical treatment under the Arogya Sri Scheme, she said the poor were
being denied access to proper medicare as the Government had restricted the
treatment under the scheme to a few number of diseases.

As a result, a good
number of people are dying, she lamented.

Smt. Sharmila said Dr.
YSR introduced the Arogya Sri Scheme to provide free medicare to all poor
people who couldn’t get medical treatment in corporate hospitals. “The scheme
provided health security to all and lakhs of people benefited from it. But, the
present Congress Government has diluted the scheme and limited the number of
diseases eligible under the scheme for treatment causing dismay to several
lakhs of people,” she said deploring the Government neglect of the health
sector.

Recalling that 108
Ambulances used to attend to the callers’ medical emergencies in 15 to 20
minutes during the YSR regime, now people are getting the response that the
ambulance couldn’t come due to lack of diesel or  strike by the staff members.

Smt. Sharmila, who has
been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress
chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, told the people not to lose heart. “You will
soon have Rajanna Rajyam which will revive the Arogya Sri Scheme to take care
of you.”

Sharmila has so far
walked a distance of 1679.9 km of her walkathon as on 124th day on
Thursday.
