Hyderabad, Sept 6: YSR Congress has demanded that the Chief Minister should step down as he has lost the moral right to continue in the high office after the ACB court direction to reinvestigate the cash for vote case and the assembly session should be adequately long to discuss the core issues.
‘As of now, Chandrababu Naidu did not categorically state that the voice on record in the cash for vote case does not belong to him which shows his guilt and a person with such background has no right to continue as Chief Minister,’ party MLA Gandikota Srikanth Reddy and senior leader Pilli Subashchandra Bose told reporters here on Tuesday.
Reiterating that the government should convene the assembly giving sufficient time to discuss the issues of public importance, YSR Congress has demanded that the session should not be reduced to a mere formality and Chandrababu Naidu should step down owning moral responsibility with the court’s directive in the cash for vote case. The assembly session should be convened for at least 15 days as there are many issues of public importance to be discussed.
Rushing through the agenda on GST and paying tributes to Mother Teresa cuts no ice as there are many issues that should be voiced in the assembly.
The rampant corruption starting from the Cash for Vote to Speaker’s confession about his expenditure running into crores for the 2014 assembly election besides the drought, farmers’ issues, special status, Polavaram and other assurances given during the division of the state which were not fulfilled by the Centre should be discussed thoroughly, they said.
The Godavri Pushkaram tragedy report, corruption during Krishna Pushkarams, minister’s involvement in various deals, the poor performance of the state and its high ranking in corruption and the tall figure of 15% growth rate, attack on dalits are some of the issues which merit a discussion in the session, they said.
‘The Chief Minister should step down as he has lost the moral right to continue in the high office after the ACB court direction to reinvestigate the cash for vote case and the assembly session should be adequately long to discuss the core issues,’ they said.
