Bangaru Talli is nothing before Amma Odi

Khammam, May 2, 2013:
Charging the Government of going into a deep slumber and failing to take proper
measures for the protection of women, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila said the introduction
of the Bangaru Talli scheme for girls was not accompanied by real love and
affection.

Interacting with women,
children and the aged at a Rachchabanba programme at Marsakuntla village in
Eenkuru Mandalam of Khammam district on Wednesday, she said CM Kiran Kumar has
been introducing new schemes in the election year aiming at votes.

If he is really sincere
and has real love and affection for the girls, he could have introduced the
scheme long back, she said, adding people have doubts over its implementation.

Smt. Sharmila said
women are being subjected to atrocities irrespective of their age and the Government
has failed to provide security to the women folk. “During the YSR regime,
Government used to give strict punishment to the guilty involved in atrocities
against women. Now, the Government is in deep slumber unconcerned for women’s
welfare and their safety. This is the reason for the increasing number of
atrocities against them,” she observed.

Accusing Kiran Kumar of
pouring out his love on women all of a sudden in an election year, Smt.
Sharmila described him as a CM of words. “He is not a CM of actions.”

Dubbing the Bangaru
Talli scheme as one without love and affection, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila said the
scheme would come nowhere near the Amma Odi scheme promised by YSRCP chief Sri
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the party’s first plenary.

The Amma Odi scheme
promises to give Rs. 500 a month for students up to tenth class, Rs.700 a month
for Intermediate students and Rs.1000 a month for degree students. “This
amounts to Rs.6000, Rs.8400 and Rs.12,000 respectively a year. The Bangaru Talli
scheme would stand nowhere before Amma Odi scheme promised by YSR Congress
Party,” she said.
