Amaravati: YSR Congress leaders Ambati Rambabu and Malladi Vishnu on Thursday met Chief Electoral Officer RP Sisodia to discuss the irregularities in the electoral rolls. Highlighting the exclusion of the YSRCP workers and sympathisers from the electoral rolls, the leaders handed the constituency-wise list of voters whose names had been deleted from electoral rolls, to the officer.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, the YSRCP leaders said that they have requested the EC to extend the deadline for voter registration by a month. Responding to our request, the electoral officer said a decision on the deadline has to be taken by the Central Election Commission, they added.
"The officer said that he would take up the extension of deadline with the CEC. By misusing power and by manipulating the officials, Chandrababu, in the name of RGT-Pulse survey, is giving rise to irregularities in the electoral roll," they said. As per our sources, as many as 48.61 lakh voters had been deleted while the names of over 11 lakh voters had been removed in the pretext of duplication, the YSRCP leaders observed.
Chandrababu, who is scared of loss in the election, is resorting to regain power by illicit means, they commented. Demanding for the voter registration and the making of electoral roll without the interference of the government, they said that the status of irregularities in the electoral roll could be understood from the fact that the Electoral Officer himself admitted to the irregularities.
