YSRCP slams govt for neglecting Ambedkar memorial

Vijayawada, Nov 8:The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has strongly condemned the coalition government for “deliberately destroying and neglecting” the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Justice Memorial and park in Vijayawada, accusing it of political vendetta and disrespect towards the Father of the Constitution.

After inspecting the memorial premises, YSRCP SC Cell President and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu issued a stern warning to the government, demanding that the entire memorial be restored and beautified before November 26 — Constitution Day. “If the government fails, we are ready to sacrifice our lives right here at the Ambedkar memorial,” he declared.
Sudhakar Babu said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy built the 125-ft Ambedkar statue and memorial “with a vision to inspire future generations with Ambedkar’s life and ideals,” but the coalition regime is now “destroying it out of jealousy and caste arrogance.” He stated that fountains are non-functional, plants have died, surroundings are littered with garbage, and signage has been removed — all part of a deliberate attempt to erase Y.S. Jagan’s legacy and insult Dalit pride.
Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivas, former MLA Mondithoka Jagan Mohan Rao, NTR District President Devineni Avinash, Vijayawada Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, and other leaders participated. They accused the government of failing its constitutional duty, showing caste bias, and humiliating a national icon.
“This is an assault on Ambedkar’s legacy, on Dalit dignity, and on democracy itself,” YSRCP leaders asserted, vowing a relentless democratic fight until the memorial is restored to its rightful glory.
