YSRCP demands fresh polls

Kadapa, November 2: YSRCP has demanded the cancellation of elections, the issuance of a denotification and holding the polls with the deployment of Central forces, as the elections were held in a blatant mockery of democracy.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, former MLA Ravindranath Reddy said the entire election process was laden with undemocratic and heinous methods with the official machinery out and out taking sides favouring the ruling Party.
Irrespective of the result, YSRCP has scored a moral victory in the Corporation elections as the cadre stood strongly against all oppression of the Chandrababu government.
As the entire election process, from filing nominations to scrutiny, campaign and polling, was done in a manner and measure that was heckling at the set norms, it is a dark day for democracy, and we demand fresh polls under the watch and vigil of Central forces.
We have approached all avenues and moved the apex which has given directives that were kept aside and as an eye wash cheery picked a few places to show that some action was taken.
In reality, even after the Court directives, the anarchy of the coalition prevailed in rejecting nominations, active YSRCP members being threatened with serious charges besides intimidation and attacks not sparing women.
On the polling days, YSRCP agents were prevented from entering the polling station and were attacked. Voters, including women, were prevented from exercising their franchise.
In such a scenario, the elections were neither fair nor free and we demand the SEC issue a re-notification.
