YSRCP condemns brutal rape and murder of minor 

Visakhapatnam, May 24: YSRCP Women Wing President and MLC Varudu Kalyani condemned the horrific rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Kambaladinne village, Mylavaram mandal, YSR district. 
In a video statement released to media, Kalyani expressed profound grief and outrage over the heinous crime, criticizing the coalition government for its failure to ensure women’s safety and deliver justice. 
“The brutal rape and murder of an innocent three-year-old is a heart-wrenching tragedy that exposes the deteriorating state of law and order under this coalition government,” Kalyani stated. 
She highlighted the daily occurrence of such atrocities since the coalition assumed power, pointing to a systemic failure in protecting women and children.
Kalyani revealed that the victim’s mother staged a protest demanding justice, yet neither the Home Minister nor other ministers visited the grieving family or offered support, as they were preoccupied with organizing a political event in Kadapa. She attributed the rise in crimes against women to the unchecked proliferation of liquor shops and rampant alcohol sales, noting that the perpetrator was reportedly intoxicated during the crime. “With 70-80 cases of crimes against women registered daily in Andhra Pradesh, equivalent to 3-4 cases per hour, where is the safety for women that Home Minister V. Anitha promised?” Kalyani questioned, asserting that the state’s women live in fear, with protection reduced to a mere illusion.
The YSRCP leader criticised the coalition government dismantling the Disha system, a robust women’s safety initiative introduced by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, leaving women vulnerable. “While YS Jagan prioritized women’s safety at every step, this government has failed to provide even the bare minimum protection,” she said. Kalyani demanded immediate action from the Chief Minister, Home Minister, and other officials to support the victim’s family and ensure swift justice. “The government must act now to punish the culprit severely and deliver immediate justice to the family, as the mother demands,” she urged.
Kalyani emphasized the need for systemic reforms to curb crimes against women, including stricter regulation of liquor sales and the reinstatement of effective safety mechanisms like the Disha system.. “The safety of women and children cannot be compromised. We demand a government that acts, not one that ignores the cries of its people,” she concluded.
