YSRCP celebrates AP Formation Day

Tadepalli, November 1: YSR Congress Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conveyed warm greetings to the people of Andhra Pradesh on the State Formation Day and paid glowing tributes to Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu. He recalled that Andhra State became a reality solely due to the unwavering non-violent struggle and supreme sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu garu, who fought for the self-respect and identity of Telugus.
Extending his wishes to all citizens, he stated that refusing to officially observe Andhra Pradesh Formation Day is an insult to the martyr’s legacy.
“By not celebrating this historic day, Chandrababu Naidu’s government is undermining the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu garu and the pride of Telugu people. This day must always be celebrated beyond politics,” he said.
Marking the occasion, the YSR Congress Party celebrated Andhra Pradesh Formation Day grandly at its central office in Tadepalli, where leaders paid floral tributes to Potti Sriramulu’s portrait. Speaking at the event, they expressed deep anguish over the coalition government’s decision to neglect official celebrations and criticised the move to collect donations from the Arya Vysya community for installing Potti Sriramulu’s statue. They demanded that the government itself take responsibility for installing the statue with due honour and dignity.
MLC and State General Secretary Leella Appi Reddy said that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and later Jagan Mohan Reddy reinstated the importance of this day and celebrated it officially, ensuring future generations remember the sacrifices behind the state’s formation. Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao condemned the government for sidelining the State Formation Day and ridiculed the practice of collecting funds in the martyr’s name while sanctioning crores for statues of other political leaders. He said such actions are a humiliation to Potti Sriramulu and will be firmly opposed. Senior party leaders and cadres attended the ceremony.
