Tadepalli, June 9: Former Minister and YSRCP PAC Member Vidadala Rajini lashed out at the TDP-led coalition government for its complete failure to ensure women’s safety in Andhra Pradesh. She pointed to the shocking murder of an intermediate student in Anantapur, blaming the incident on police negligence.
Despite a missing complaint being filed six days earlier, no serious effort was made to trace the student. Rajini said such tragedies could have been avoided if the police had acted responsibly.
She accused the government of indifference and said complaints are only acted upon when pressure comes from ruling party MLAs.
Speaking to media at the party central office, Rajini said that instead of addressing such grave governance failures, the Chandrababu-led coalition has resorted to diversion politics. She criticised the arrest of senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao as a deliberate act of political revenge. The remarks made during a Sakshi TV debate were not endorsed by Kommineni, who even cautioned the panelist. The analyst who made the remarks, Krishnam Raju, publicly apologised, yet TDP escalated the issue for political mileage. Rajini said this was an attempt to silence dissenting voices and create fear among the press and the public alike.
She also condemned the coordinated attacks on Sakshi offices across the state, calling them a direct assault on press freedom. She alleged that Chandrababu Naidu and TDP leaders were targeting Sakshi for consistently exposing the government’s failures. The issue was dragged out with false narratives and manipulated outrage, while real problems were ignored. Rajini said this was a clear sign of the “Red Book” governance style that threatens democracy and media independence in Andhra Pradesh.
Rajini said that the administration of Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy empowered women through landmark schemes like the Disha App and Disha police stations. She said Jagan took firm steps to ensure women’s safety, economic independence, and equal participation. She condemned the baseless attacks on YSRCP leaders and said the coalition government was trying to shift public attention away from its one-year failures. Rajini urged the public to see through this political drama and stand up for justice, democracy, and the protection of women and press freedom.
