Truth never loses: YS Jagan pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Tadepalli, Jan 30: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day, recalling Gandhi’s lifelong commitment to truth and moral courage. Remembering the Father of the Nation, YS Jagan said that truth may appear to be defeated temporarily, but it never loses, and described Mahatma Gandhi as a great soul who dedicated his entire life to truth until his very last breath.
Marking the occasion, party leaders offered floral tributes to Gandhi’s portrait at the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli. MLC Lella Appireddy, Malladi Vishnu, Vellampalli Srinivas, Donthireddy Vemareddy, Gorantla Madhav, and other senior leaders were present and paid their respects, reaffirming Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, and moral integrity as enduring guiding principles in public life.
Addressing the gathering, YSRCP leaders said the recent controversy around Tirumala laddu stood as living proof of “Satyameva Jayate”, with the CBI SIT chargesheet clearly establishing that there was no animal fat in the prasadam and exposing the falsehoods and political conspiracies spread by the ruling coalition for narrow political gain. They accused the coalition of dragging God and sacred institutions into politics and attempting to mislead devotees, only to be exposed by facts and evidence.
YSRCP leaders recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom through truth and non-violence, stating that there is no weapon more powerful than truth and ahimsa. They said YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s five-year governance followed Gandhian ideals, bringing governance to the doorstep through village and ward secretariats and realising the spirit of Gram Swaraj. They strongly condemned the coalition government’s decision to remove Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, calling it a disgraceful act that insults Gandhi’s legacy and undermines a programme that has supported millions of rural workers.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders said Gandhi’s struggle against injustice, untouchability, and oppression remains an enduring inspiration, and warned that today’s politics of vendetta, misinformation, and intimidation stands in sharp contrast to Gandhian values. They alleged that even institutions meant to uphold law and order are being misused to silence dissent, while fabricated narratives are spread for political benefit. Despite this, they said, truth has ultimately prevailed, as confirmed by the CBI findings in the Tirumala issue.
MLC Lella Appireddy, former ministers and MLAs including Malladi Vishnu, Vellampalli Srinivas, Gorantla Madhav, party leaders Jupudi Prabhakar, Donthireddy Vemareddy, and heads of affiliated wings participated in the programme and offered floral tributes to Gandhi’s portrait, reaffirming that the YSRCP will continue to stand by truth, public interest, and Gandhian values in public life.
