Students from Andhra Pradesh arrive safely after the concerted efforts of State Government amidst unrest in Manipur
Amidst the ongoing law and order situation in Manipur, over 160 students from Andhra Pradesh studying at NIT, IIIT and Central Agriculture University in Manipur were caught in distress. The government of Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, has been committed to helping the stranded students in every manner.
Two helpline numbers were set up in Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, New Delhi to establish contact between the students and their families back home (011-23384016, 011-23387089). The data collected from the control room at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan enabled tracking the whereabouts of over 160 students, allowing to streamline the efforts towards ensuring the safe passage of all students.
The government of Andhra Pradesh coordinated with officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India to arrange for two additional flights for the stranded students, one bound for Hyderabad, and the other bound for Kolkata. A total of 157 students from Andhra Pradesh will be brought to the Hyderabad Airport and Kolkata Airport on 8th May 2023. A team of two officials from Andhra Pradesh Bhavan has been deputed at Kolkata Airport to receive students and assist them with connecting flights to Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam. The government of Andhra Pradesh has arranged for APSRTC buses at Hyderabad Airport to pick up students and drop them to their respective hometowns in Andhra Pradesh.
The government of Andhra Pradesh is coordinating with the Government of Manipur to ensure the safe passage of students to the airport. The government of Andhra Pradesh extends its heartfelt gratitude to Manipur authorities for their unwavering support throughout the process.
STATUS AS ON 08.05.2023, 09.30 PM:
A total of 157 students from Andhra Pradesh were received at Kolkata Airport and Hyderabad Airport on 08.05.2023.
49 Students were received at Kolkata airport on 8th May 2023 where the helpdesk of Government of Andhra Pradesh facilitated arrangements for their onwards travel to Hyderabad via three flights at 1.45 PM, 9.00 PM and 11.10 PM respectively.
A total of 108 students were received at the Hyderabad Airport and assisted for their onwards journey to respective destinations via APSRTC buses arranged by Government of Andhra Pradesh. The four bus routes were:
1. Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor
2. Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Vishakhapatnam
3. Razole, Bhimavaram
4. Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore
