Stop credit chori on YS Jagan’s land reforms” : YSRCP MP warns union minister Pemmasani

Venkatagiri, Nellore, Jan 24:
YSRCP Tirupati MP Gurumurthy warned coalition leaders not to indulge in what he called “credit chori politics” over the historic land reforms implemented under former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that attempts to mislead the public would only expose them to ridicule.
Addressing the media in Venkatagiri, he said Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar was making contradictory statements day after day on the Land Titling Act and the resurvey, creating confusion among people.
The MP said the “Jagananna Bhoo Hakku – Bhoo Raksha” programme received a Platinum Grade from GoI, which itself stands as proof of the work done by the YSRCP government. He said that as part of this recognition, the state received Rs. 397 crore in incentives from the Centre. Gurumurthy pointed out that while Pemmasani admits on some days that the resurvey was completed during the YSRCP regime, he changes his stand the next day to project the coalition government as if it were responsible. “This is nothing but pure credit theft,” he asserted.
He urged the minister to look at official records instead of making statements at convenience. Referring to the Ministry of Rural Development’s annual report dated December 20, 2023, Gurumurthy said the Centre itself had acknowledged that land digitisation was completed in 90–95 percent of 168 districts across the country and that Andhra Pradesh stood at the top. He said the resurvey was carried out rapidly and accurately under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, which is why the Platinum Grade was awarded. As a direct result, the Union Finance Ministry issued orders granting incentives for 2024–25, and on February 19, 2025, Rs. 397 crore was officially released to the state. “These are not opinions. These are government records,” he said.
Gurumurthy strongly rejected the coalition’s propaganda that civil court powers were removed in land disputes. He clarified that under Schedule 38 of the Model Land Titling Act, citizens continue to have the right to approach the High Court, and that the YSRCP government designed the resurvey to protect farmers and landowners, reduce conflicts, and prevent social tensions arising from minor land disputes. He said “Jagananna Bhoo Raksha” was conceived to ensure people live without fear over their land and is not a scheme that can be erased by false narratives.
He said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy governed with sincerity and commitment and introduced reforms meant to stand the test of time. “Trying to portray good work as bad, and claiming credit for what you never built, is a serious political mistake. People are not fools,” Gurumurthy said, warning coalition leaders to stop misleading propaganda and desist from taking credit for reforms carried out by the previous government.
