Road repairs, a blatant lie, public money looted

Tuni, August 30:  Former Minister and YSRCP senior leader Dadishetti Raja on Friday came down heavily on Chandrababu’s coalition government, with a large-scale corruption in the name of road repairs, unchecked borrowings, and the dismantling of welfare measures that once supported the poor in Andhra Pradesh.

Raja said Chandrababu had earlier promised to make the state’s roads “shine like mirrors,” but the reality today is collapsing roads that do not last even two days. He pointed out that the government claimed to have repaired 18,000 km of R&B roads, yet there was no visible progress on the ground. Instead, public money was being siphoned off while people continued to suffer accidents due to poor road conditions.

Recalling the YSRCP’s record, he said that despite financial strain during COVID, the previous government had spent Rs. 43,000 crore on road construction and repairs. In contrast, the coalition had pushed the state into nearly Rs. 2 lakh crore debt in just 15 months without addressing basic infrastructure needs.

Also, farmers were facing severe distress as urea, once available for Rs. 270 a bag, was now being sold at Rs. 500 in the black market. Workers, students, employees, and women, too, were left in hardship, with no section of society benefiting from the current government.

On education and healthcare, Raja said fee reimbursement arrears remained unpaid, Aarogyasri hospitals were struggling with pending dues, and government medical colleges initiated under YSRCP were being shut down. He also criticised the government’s corruption in Polavaram and land allocations in Visakhapatnam.

He criticized Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for politicizing the Sugali Preethi case while failing to deliver justice and demanded accountability for his earlier claims about missing girls. Raja concluded that the coalition government had abandoned welfare, betrayed farmers, and mortgaged the state’s future for private interests.
