Tirupati, Aug 18: YSRCP State Spokesperson and former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy alleged that the coalition government was misusing the police machinery to foist false cases against political opponents under what he termed Nara Lokesh’s “Red Book Constitution.”
Speaking to the media at his residence in Tirupati, Karunakar Reddy said YSRCP leaders and workers have been targeted with politically motivated cases since the coalition came to power. He alleged that even High Court directions were being disregarded and police records manipulated to target him over lands belonging to his family.
He said the District Collector wrote to the SP on July 22, referring to him as “Karunakar Reddy and goons.” Based on this, Crime No. 253/2026 was registered on August 12 with the Collector as the complainant. He said the High Court objected to the language used and ordered that no further action be taken against him.
Karunakar Reddy alleged that the FIR subsequently disappeared from online records. He said the Tiruchanur CI was issued a charge memo and a fresh complaint was obtained from Cherukuri Venkata Prasad over land in Survey No. 478 at Thanapalli. He questioned how two different FIRs could be shown as registered at the same time under the same crime number and challenged the police to release CCTV footage.
He also alleged irregularities in sending the FIR to the court and accused the government of manipulating records. Karunakar Reddy said he would approach the High Court again. He said that after 53 years in public life, the government was branding him a “goonda” and “land grabber” and using institutions for political vendetta.
