Visakhapatnam, July 30: YSRCP Women Wing President and MLC Varudu Kalyani slammed the coalition government for ill-treating women and a TDP leader trying to price the modesty of a woman.
Speaking to media here on Wednesday, she said that TDP leader Kollu Ravindra tried to settle the case in which his follower’s kin had committed atrocity on a woman by fixing a price for her modesty and when her mother protested attempting suicide before police station, the matter was hushed up.
The attacks on women have been growing in the coalition government and there is no safety for them despite tall claims by the Chief Minister and his deputy. Kollu Ravindra should be brought to book or else we will take up the issue, she said.
Home Minister Anitha, being a woman, has no concern to the grave injustice being meted out to women and she is a failure, Kalyani said adding that the police from top to bottom have been busy in implementing red book constitution.
There were incidents of atrocities on minors and women across the state. It happened at Rapthadu, a pharmacy student in Rajahmundry, a Dalit girl in Tenali, and other such incidents are still fresh in the minds of the people.
Jana Sena leader Kiran Royal has harassed a woman in Tirupati and Kolikipudi Srinivas faces charges of harassing women, yet no action was forthcoming, she said.
There have been many similar cases and the coalition government has been negligent in providing security to women.
