*Govt fears Jagan’s voice in Assembly: Varudu Kalyani*

Tadepalli, August 12: YSRCP Women’s Wing President and MLC Varudu Kalyani said the coalition government was denying YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the Leader of Opposition status because it feared being exposed on the floor of the Assembly. Speaking after the YSRCP Legislature Party meeting chaired by YS Jagan, she said the party would confront the government on every major public issue during the Legislature session beginning August 17.
Kalyani said the coalition had failed women, students, unemployed youth, employees and farmers, while pushing public assets towards PPP models. She said YSRCP was not seeking Opposition status for protocol, but to secure adequate time in the House to raise people’s issues. “Delhi granted Opposition status even with three MLAs. Why is YSRCP being denied the same despite having 11 MLAs?” she asked.
She said Mega DSC–2025 had become an unprecedented recruitment controversy, with serious irregularities in 421 Sports Quota posts, deserving national-level sportspersons being bypassed while district-level participation certificates secured appointments, and an SCERT-linked individual securing first rank in Krishna district. Despite evidence of question-paper leakage and recruitment irregularities, Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh had failed to answer the questions or order a CBI investigation.
Kalyani also targeted Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha over deteriorating law and order and rising attacks on women, stating that Andhra Pradesh had slipped to 36th position in implementation of BNS and BNSS.
She said women had lost welfare benefits and zero-interest support, farmers were denied investment assistance, remunerative prices, input subsidy and crop insurance, while the promised ₹3,000 unemployment allowance remained unpaid even after 25 months. Unemployment had reached 21%, with 191 unemployed persons dying by suicide, while ₹9,500 crore in fee-reimbursement dues remained pending. Employees were also denied DA, PRC and IR.
“Give YS Jagan his rightful Opposition status and enough time to speak—the government’s failures will stand exposed before the people,” Kalyani said.
