Tadepalli, Nov 11: Former MLA Hafeez Khan and YSRCP Minorities Wing Chairman Khader Basha strongly condemned the coalition government, stating it has no moral right to celebrate Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary as Minorities Welfare Day while brutally suppressing Muslim citizens and betraying every promise made to them. Addressing media at the YSR Congress Party Central Office in Tadepalli, they accused the government of running a regime of fear, injustice, and discrimination against minorities. They said despite being in power for nearly 18 months, not a single election promise to Muslim minorities has been fulfilled, instead, attacks, illegal cases, demolition of homes, and harassment have intensified. They stated the government is treating Muslims as second-class citizens and even filing cases for simply playing YS Jagan’s songs at weddings. Citing the brutal public murder of Rasheed in Vinukonda, they slammed the government for shielding the accused and framing his family members instead of delivering justice. They also condemned the police assault and false case against a youth named Javeer just for playing a YS Jagan song at a wedding.
They highlighted that despite tenth-class student Ishrath Jahan scoring 599/600 and being congratulated by Governor Abdul Nazeer and former CM YS Jagan, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Education Minister Nara Lokesh didn’t even acknowledge her achievement, exposing their discriminatory mindset. They stated that a government that cannot respect a bright minority student has no sincerity toward Muslim welfare. They demanded immediate release of pending one-year honorariums for Imams and Mouzzins, and questioned why promises such as pensions at 50, land for Eidgahs and graveyards, minority welfare corporation, mosque maintenance funds, and appointment of government Khajis remain unfulfilled. They further alleged that the coalition government diluted Wakf laws, reversed protections introduced under YS Jagan’s GO 40, and is now gifting Waqf lands to TDP leaders.
They asserted that minorities in Andhra Pradesh are facing unprecedented targeting under the coalition rule, their businesses attacked, houses demolished, and voices suppressed. They warned that if attacks on minorities and illegal land takeovers do not stop immediately, YSRCP will launch a mass agitation. They demanded the government stop treating minority citizens with hostility and uphold constitutional rights and dignity.
Condemning the bomb blast near Red Fort in Delhi, they expressed deepest condolences to the families of victims and urged stringent action against the perpetrators. They appealed to the nation to stand united against such acts of terror and support affected families.
