police booked a case

Tirupati: YSR Congress Party MLA from Chandragiri, Dr. Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy staged a dharna in front of the MR Palli police station here, forcing the police to book a case against two youth who had planned to murder him. The MLA staged his protest till late Wednesday night compelling the cops to register a case against Nagabhushanam and Sisindri who kept track of his movements, as part of a recce mission. The police booked a case under Section 323, 120 (B) IPC read with Section 34.

Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy slammed TDP leaders for attempting to get him murdered. He said that he not only employed those two youth as drivers, but ensured that they were given food. It is unfortunate that such youth kept track of his movements as part of a recce mission they undertook, he said.

It may be recalled that the TDP government programme, 'Pasupu-Kumkuma' was conducted on Sunday at Vedantapuram under Tirupati Rural mandal constituency. It was here that TDP men attacked YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. The ruling party workers tried to stop the MLA from speaking. They claimed that it was TDP programme and obstructed him.

The mic was also turned off as Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy was speaking. At this point, women and police officials came forward to protect Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. This seemed to provoke the TDP men further and they resorted to hurling stones, chilli powder and sweet packets at the women. Apart from the YSRCP MLA., Tirupati West DSP, MR Palli SI and 3 women sustained injuries. Jostling took place between the TDP leaders and police in which Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy lost consciousness and fell down out of suffocation.
