Rich tributes paid to YSR

Hyderabad, July 8: Rich tributes were paid to Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy on his 66th Jayanthi celebrations with YSRCP leaders recalling the services of the great leader and asserting that his ideology and vision are relevant even today though there were attempts to subvert his line of thinking.

The speakers at the main function organized at Party Central office here on Wednesday, lauded the services of the former Chief Minister who could rise above party and regional levels in carrying out welfare activities and pledged their support to his line of thought which is being carried forward by his son and YSRCP President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“YS Rajasekhar Reddy has infused confidence in to the weaker sections by launching a slew of welfare measures as he had first knowledge of the suffering of the poor during his historic padayatra of 2003 which has changed the course the State’s polity and has ushered in the era of welfare.

He has provided medical and education security by launching Aarogyasri and fees reimbursement schemes and had taken up the ambitious Jalayagnam scheme to commission 86 irrigation projects which would roll a green carpet across the state and benefit farmers.

His vision of conceiving Polavaram and Pranahitha-Chevella projects is a boon to the farmers but the subsequent governments are trying to distort the aims and objectives of the two projects.

We have to rededicate ourselves on this occasion to strengthen the hands of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who can take forwards the ideals of YSR,” they said.

The 66th Jayanthi of YSR is celebrated not only in the two Telugu speaking states but also by Telugu people in the country and abroad.

“Even six years after his death, YSR lives in the hearts of the poor as he has brought quality medicare and education within the reach of weaker sections and many think even today that the situation would have been different had YSR been alive.

He firmly believed that there could be no short cuts in politics but have to go through the grind and his Praja Prasthanam mass contact programme was a proof to that.

As Chief Minister, he was the role model and many of counter parts have emulated him in implementing the welfare schemes. He was the only Chief Minister who gave 4% reservations to minorities,” they said.

Party Telangana President P Srinivas Reddy, Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Bota Satyanaryana, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Rehman and others spoke on the occasion.
