TDP politicising social issue: YSRCP: Aug 13, 2012

Hyderabad, August 13: Questioning the sincerity of TDP President, N Chandrababu Naidu on the categorisation issue, YSRCP has said he was trying to take political mileage out of a social issue, which he never bothered to solve while he was in power.

“Though he was the key supporter of NDA government and was chief minister for nine years, he never attempted to solve the raging issue of classifying Scheduled Castes into A, B, C and D groups on the basis of their economic status. The same Chandrababu Naidu is now trying to take political mileage out of the social issue,” Party CGC member, M Mareppa told reporters here on Monday.

Categorisation of SCs is a social issue and Supreme Court has ruled that it can be done if the Parliament passes a resolution. While TDP was silent all the time Chandrababu Naidu now started a campaign that his party will ensure that a resolution is tabled and passed in the State Assembly.

“Chandrababu Naidu has lost his balance as one such resolution was already passed in the State Assembly by YSR and the Supreme Court gave its verdict on the very same issue,” the former Minister said.
YSR has always worked for the dalit cause while Chandrababu Naidu has shown discrimination and has never addressed the problem seriously. There are clear instances to prove that he has upper caste arrogance, be it Karamchedu, Tsundur or other incidents, he said.

The TDP leader has been using the dalit leaders of his Party like Kadiyam Srihari, M Narasimlu and Varla Ramaiah as show-pieces of the dalit cause, but in reality even the leaders know how committed Chandrababu Naidu is for the dalit cause and categorisation in particular, he said.

“He is trying to apply his two-eyed policy on Andhra and Telangana to the categorisation dispute as well unmindful of the fact that Telangana is a political issue and the classification is a social issue. He has been unable to keep his composure as the popularity of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been soaring day after day and TDP’s base is eroding fast,” he said.

The State is experiencing the loss of YSR in many ways and the dalits, who were beneficiaries of the welfare schemes he had introduced, are looking towards YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to continue his ideals. YSRCP will sweep the polls and form the government after the next general elections, he said.
